Postcards XII - The Super Bundle

Admittedly the Postcards feature has sort of derailed over the past month. The original idea was to showcase the top three submissions for a given week. However, as Bochi Crew continues to gain wider-spread readership, the quality and quantity of submissions have increased. I have been wrapping up finals over the past two weeks and then there was the Live At Leeds festival this past weekend. If I haven't returned your emails over the past couple weeks I apologize and hope you are reading this now! This week's Postcard will be purely music with no text and will showcase far more than three submissions. Hope y'all enjoy! I will be back stateside in a matter of days and should have much much much more time to dedicate to the blog. Look for some new contributors too in the near future!

Haiku Salut - "Glockelbar" [Video]

Derbyshire's Haiku Salut have just released an animated video for "Glockelbar." The last feature we ran on the trio praised the release of "Los Elefantes." "Glockelbar" stems from the same, tranquil vein that has come to represent Haiku Salut. They land somewhere between Message to Bears and Múm . According to the trio, their newest "chronicles the race to death using only an accordion, a glockenspiel and a glitch plug-in." The video, animated and produced by Mitsuo Toyama , portrays a sleeping boy greeted by a giraffe at his window before being taken on a sleepy ride through the cosmos. I couldn't help but be reminded of the Little Prince. Both "Los Elefantes" and "Glockenbar" are featured on the new album, Tricolore . Do yourself and the band a favor by picking it up here !

Postcards VIII

An opening disclaimer: All the creative juice has been sucked from my soul over the couple of days, and I have not felt particularly inclined to write much. I think this is owed to my exiting from the honey moon phase of my experiences in Morocco as I am realizing that the cultural differences are rather profound. Might also be owed to some nostalgic moments looking towards home while listening to my favorite childhood bands, Sum 41 and Blink 182. I have to say I have never loved these bands more than right now. With all of this said, the write-ups will be a bit shorter this week owing to my dearth of energy. The best submissions for this past week include The Underachievers, Eeleye, and An Escape Plan. Little Daylight - "Overdose" (The Chainsmokers Remix")

Normally I am not one for remixes, but I have had to make some exceptions recently for groups like Religion and now The Chainsmokers. These guys first caught my gaze with their tremendous rehash of Jonsi's "Around Us." If you can take a song by arguably one of the most talented and creative musicians and completely turn it on its head, then I think there is something to be said there. The Chainsmokers just dropped a remix of Little Daylight's "Overdose." Their decision to hone in on "Overdose" stems from the duo hearing the song at a party, looking it up, and then asking Little Daylight for permission. The original garnered considerable buzz and I am sure the remix will follow suit. Happy Listening! Don't forget to get that free download!
