Small Pools - "Dreaming" (The Chainsmokers Remix)

Aged nine months, The Chainsmokers are certainly an aural brew that gets better with age. The NYC duo have brought to the fore an enthralling synthesis of indie and EDM. The latest to make the rounds of the blogosphere is a remix of “Dreaming” from Small Pools. The original, deemed by Drew and Alex to be a summer anthem replete with the smells of fresh cut grass and afternoons in the sun, sees these vibes amplified with the rehash.

A bit of Felix Cartel and maybe even some Mount Kimbie can be heard in the remix but it all blends together in a whole different way. As their sound continues to show signs of maturity it sure seems like the duo haven't, a good thing for sure. Not to say Drew and Alex are immature, but they bring a certain absurdity, matching vibrant music with vibrant personalities. You never know what you will get from these guys, especially in the press releases. Along with “Dreaming,” a day in the life of The Chainsmokers was sent along. Scope it below.



With a host of hypem #1 remixes under their belts, The Chainsmokers plan on taking time to craft some originals. I won't speculate as to what we will hear or even what my expectations are but needless to say I am eager to hear what these guys can put together. Catch em at Tomorrowworld in September in Atlanta and you might just find out.

Derbyshire's Haiku Salut have just released an animated video for "Glockelbar." The last feature we ran on the trio praised the release of "Los Elefantes." "Glockelbar" stems from the same, tranquil vein that has come to represent Haiku Salut. They land somewhere between Message to Bears and Múm . According to the trio, their newest "chronicles the race to death using only an accordion, a glockenspiel and a glitch plug-in." The video, animated and produced by Mitsuo Toyama , portrays a sleeping boy greeted by a giraffe at his window before being taken on a sleepy ride through the cosmos. Chilled and Ready to Serve

Boys Get Hurt One of Bochi Crew's first posts highlighted the talented Hannah Georgas and her track "Enemies." Over the summer my speakers were bumping "Enemies" nearly everyday when I returned home from work. Boys Get Hurt are a duo based out of Tokyo set on recapturing the fleeting days of summer. Supposedly they have thrown some sick dance parties in Tokyo called "Summer House." Great tune. Cleindl Like Boys Get Hurt, Cleindl hails from Tokyo. A friend of mine actually went to high school and is good friends with Cleindl. Hardly a track meet went by last spring where Cleindl's remix of "People Help the People" wasn't on the pre-race playlist. Postcards VIII

An opening disclaimer: All the creative juice has been sucked from my soul over the couple of days, and I have not felt particularly inclined to write much. I think this is owed to my exiting from the honey moon phase of my experiences in Morocco as I am realizing that the cultural differences are rather profound. Might also be owed to some nostalgic moments looking towards home while listening to my favorite childhood bands, Sum 41 and Blink 182. I have to say I have never loved these bands more than right now. With all of this said, the write-ups will be a bit shorter this week owing to my dearth of energy. The best submissions for this past week include The Underachievers, Eeleye, and An Escape Plan.
